House Achievements/Accomplishments for Fitchburg
1. $160k community policing grant awarded Fitchburg, one of thirteen communities to receive this state assistance to combat crime.
2. Instrumental in pushing through $30k for the Fitchburg Police awarded to implement the Fitchburg Regional Crime Project aimed at crime prevention and gang violence.
3. $1.5M grant awarded to Fitchburg by the state Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development providing further infrastructure ecomonic development at Putnam Place.
4. Persistent and successful in getting Governor Deval Patrick to sign the Wallace Civic Center Renovation bill, clearing the way for $2M in improvements to the center for Fitchburg State College.
5. Elected as Freshmen class president for newly elected representatives of 2007.
6. Devised the Fitchburg Wetlands Protection Act with the assistance of the Fitchburg Conservation Commission. This act would increase enforcement measures that the city could use to plan where and how developers are able to build in the city and protect the properties of Fitchburg residents.
7. $1.2M in additional Chapter 70 for Fitchburg schools in FY2008 over FY2007.
8. $35k awarded in grants by the MA Cultural Council to Fitchburg schools and cultural organizations.
9. $500k state grant awarded to Fitchburg to fund renovations to Coolidge Park
10. $150M earmarked for the Fitchburg Commuter Rail Line, $75M of which is from state matching funds that Governor Patrick has filed in a bond bill, which DiNatale has consistently advocated and supported.
11. Voted against cell phone ban bill specifically due to bill including insurance surcharges for violators.
12. Secured grant funding of $106k for the Fitchburg Historical Society's move to Main Street.
13. Voted in favor of allowing exemptions for certain seniors to avoid property tax increases as a result of a proposition 2 1/2 override.
14. Wins rate battle versus Unitil...State DPU rules Unitil rate increase proposal be reduced by 62%. DiNatale vows future challenges to any further rate increases.
15. Voted in favor of Governor Patrick's Casino proposal.
16. Voted against imposing a $1 cigarette tax hike.
17. Successful in getting passed the following FY09 State Budget items specific to Fitchburg:
-$150k for improvement to Crocker Field
-$250k for the North Central MA Development Corporation
18. Voted in favor of a 2-day Sales Tax Holiday
19. $54M allotted to Fitchburg State College for a new state-of-the-art Science facility via a 2008 transportation bond bill
